Day 1:
Flight departs to Florence
Day 2:
Early arrival in Florence
Our host will guide you to our chartered bus and transportation to LeTorri Villa
Check in at villa. Familiarize with villa and surrounding area. Traditional Tuscan dinner prepared by our host (included). Orientation meeting with tour representative after dinner.
LeTorri is a typical Tuscan holiday villa. Erected in the XIVth century, the villa is a spacious and elegant family-run farmhouse situated in the heart of Tuscany . The closest town, San Quirico in Collina, in the Montespertoli municipality, is beautifully situated in the heart of Chianti, close to Florence , Siena , and San Gimignano. The holiday villa is run by the family who own the farmhouse. The villa is located on the top of a hill, surrounded by the natural beauty of vineyards and olive groves, reflecting the Tuscan landscape. This renaissance villa has been beautifully and fully restored. It is ideally situated in the heart of the intriguing Chianti region and boasts an area to have a relaxing barbeque and enchanting gardens.
Day 3:
Day outing to Siena, San Gimignano, and Monteriggioni
Leaving the hotel around 9:30am , we will head immediately to the walled city of Siena . We return to the hotel about 5:30pm .
Dinner suggestion: dine at a local restaurant of your choice.
Day 4:
Day outing: learn to cook like a real Italian!
Return to villa around 5:30pm
Dinner is up to you (if you still have room to eat!)
This basic cooking class is absolutely for everyone, even the kitchen helpless! After pick up at the Letorri and a short drive, we stop at the Grignano Estate. Our host will brief us on our food preparations, but before starting on the meal, we visit the winery on the property for a brief tour and sampling. We also visit the area where they produce the extra virgin olive oil. Our guide, Majla, tells us about the easy menu we will prepare and starts us on preparing the ingredients. Our participants are divided into two groups who then proceed to work on preparation of a fine Italian meal. After making the pasta and hanging it to dry, appetizers are served al fresco. We feast on crostini, bruschetta, etc., and, of course, accompany it with wine. As our food is being cooked, the table is set and soon we sit down to the fruits of our labour. After lunch, we can relax on the lawn, chat at the table while having espresso the Italian way, or take a stroll around the romantic private grounds. |

Day 5:
Half day Tour of Florence : Our guides pick us up at the villa and transport us into the city of Florence . We meet with our city guide who directs us through the many areas of Florence including: the famous jewellery district around the Ponte Vecchio, the famous Dome by Brunelleschi, and the gold Paradise door of the Baptistry. A highlight of the tour is seeing Michelangelo's David at the Academia of Fine Arts Museum - Galleria dell 'Academia- (without the customary 2 hour lineup). With our guide we bypass the crowds. In the afternoon we have free time to explore the city, shop, or just sit in a piazza sipping a cold drink or cappuccino and watching the crowds. Our suggestion: take in the Uffizi Museum in the late afternoon when the crowds are down.
Pick up for return to our villa around 5:00pm . |

Day 6:
Day outing to Cinque Terre
Cinque Terre
Leaving the hotel around 8:30am , our guides will drive us in minivans to Cinque Terre, the part of Italy where Tuscany meets the Northwestern region of Liguria . The Cinque Terre (Five Lands) are five tiny seafront villages strung along one of the most dramatic stretches of the Ligurian coast. Each is a picturesque jumble of pastel-coloured houses gathered around a small fishing harbour. Above the huddle of houses, mountains covered in woods and lush vegetation provide a beautiful backdrop. Savage cliffs tumble to the sea on all sides, cut by terraces of vines and olives that date back thousands of years. We will reach Riomaggiore and then move on to Manarola using the “Via dell' Amore” (Walkway of Love), a famous and romantic easy walkway carved along the cliffs. We then get to Vernazza, considered the most picturesque of the towns where we will have some free time for lunch. After lunch we will relax by the seaside or browse in the many eclectic shops before our return to LeTorri. |

Day 7:
Day outing: The Chianti Countryside Tour (lunch included)
The Chianti Countryside
Leaving the hotel at 9:30am , the day will be entirely dedicated to the Chianti Region. Defined by many foreigners as “the most beautiful countryside in the world”. It is famous for the wine, but we go there mainly to enjoy the beauty of its walled medieval towns, castles, stone farmhouses and breathtaking landscapes. We will visit Passignano, Montefioralle, Greve, with lunch in Volpaia. We will have a very special country style lunch based on the specialties of the area. We will also visit an old winery for a wine tasting and briefing on the wines and history of the winery. Due to its rich historical background, and the beauty and emotions that only this area can give, the day will not only be wonderful but a truly memorable experience. We return to the villa about 5:30pm .
Dinner at one of the local restaurants (if you are still hungry)
